Just a curiosity question. My three year old recently had an ear infection an for pain and fever our family doc had her on Tylenol alternating with motin every three hours for the first day. I was concerned just because this seemed like a lot of medicine for a three year old but the doctor assure me it was safe and nothing bad happened and Cindy is all better. Just curious about this... Is the Tylenol/Motrin combination safe for kids?

Dear Motrin/Tylenol inquirer:
The use of motrin and tylenol is safe when given in appropriate doses for the age of a child.
They are often given (alternating
motrin and tylenol) every 3-4 hours for pain and fever.
The medication that should be avoided in children with fevers is aspirin (or any salicylate containing compounds) due to the possibility of being associated with Reye's syndrome which can be quite serious.
It sounds like you have done all the right things and do not need to worry about over-dosing your 3 yr. old.
All our best,
Space Doc.
Agree with Space Doc,
I wish I knew how to make this look sexy on here but I don't... So the following link is pretty good.

The medicines are completely different and have no cross-reactivity.
Thanks!
